In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.1 Timothy 3:8-10 (NIV)

The Deacons Ministry in Sup of the Lord Ministries (SLM) is organized according to the Biblical pattern found in the New testament in Acts 6:1-6 and 1 Timothy 3:8-13. Deacons in SLM are servants who have become members and have successfully completed the Foundational Principles Class.

Our Deacons have two primary functions. First, they are to take care of the people who are members of SLM and who meet the requirements stated in 1 Timothy 3:8-13 with things such as food, transportation to hospitals, etc. Secondly, they are also to take care of the physical needs of the local assembly building with things such as maintenance, opening and closing the building, preparing communion, etc.

The Deacons of SLM are given the blessing of basically taking care of the physical and natural needs of the people and building of SLM; whereas the elders in SLM take care of the spiritual needs, such as teaching the Word and devoting themselves to prayer (Acts 6:4.)

The Deacons who serve joyfully to the Lord receive a good degree and boldness of faith (as stated in 1 Timothy 3:13) and much appreciation from the members of SLM.

Welcoming Committee

Who We Are

The Welcoming Committee is a ministry of trained individuals whose primary purpose is to serve visitors to Sup of the Lord Ministries and also to give helpful information in their new walk to those receiving Christ during any of our services.

How Do We Do This?

We believe that it is very important to encourage everyone coming to Sup of the Lord Ministries to feel “at home” and comfortable. We especially understand that coming into a new church environment may be a bit overwhelming. It is our desire to help our new visitors and those new to the Faith to feel welcome and help diminish any apprehension that may be present. In addition to a warm and friendly welcome into our church, we also:

  • Ensure each visitor is seated comfortably.
  • Give each visitor a packet of information describing our church, our beliefs, and our ministries.
  • Encourage those new to the Faith to be connected to a Home Group for further study of the Word of God.

In addition to providing a warm welcome to all, the Welcoming Committee is available to help with any needs visitors and members may have during any given service.
