Our History

Pastors Tom and Deborah Gibson and the entire Gibson family extend to you a warm welcome to Sup of the Lord Ministries. We are dedicated to the Word of God and His vision for this work.

In 1982, Pastor Tom, his wife, Deborah, and their family were called by the Lord to begin the first known bi-lingual Spanish ministry in Fairfax County in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. This call came with a multi-faceted vision: to reach souls locally and globally; to maintain the importance of the Latino language and culture; and, finally, to reach the mission field with the Word and Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Since those beginning years, the Lord has been faithful to increase this bi-lingual ministry and to open doors in a multitude of countries throughout Central and South America. Since its inception, Sup of the Lord Ministries has sent mission teams to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico and Peru. It has risen up four churches and buildings in Bolivia and one in Chile. In addition, Sup of the Lord Ministries oversees churches in Costa Rica and El Salvador. Every year there are at least three to four mission opportunities for people meeting the Mission Ministry’s criteria to go to the nations. These individuals are approved by the pastors of Sup of the Lord Ministries to be part of the traveling team. Opportunities are given individuals who are called upon by the Holy Spirit to fund new building projects in these countries.

Sup of the Lord Ministries has grown continually every year – both spiritually and naturally. We encourage you to be part of this growing history.

Our Founding Pastors

Pastors Tom and Deborah Gibson are originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and have been married since June 1970. They have reared four wonderful children, two boys and two girls, all of which are married and are in the house of the Lord. Currently, Tom and Deborah have twelve grandchildren.

Pastors Tom and Deborah began pastoring a bi-lingual Hispanic church in the Washington D.C. area in 1982. At that time, there were very few Hispanics in the D.C. area; however, the population has grown into the hundreds or thousands. God has been faithful in the growth of this vision. Sup of the Lord Ministries is a mission-minded church and in addition to ministering to Pastors and leaders of churches in Argentina, Brazil, British Guyana, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Peru they have planted and/or watch over churches in Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica and El Salvador. While traveling throughout Central and South America, Pastors Gibson also receive invitations for church conferences and pastoral conventions and have ministered to several high ranking officials in various countries. The Lord has placed upon them a specific burden for pastors, leaders, and their families and Pastors Tom and Deborah work toward strengthening the bond of family interaction in these countries and the USA.

Before entering the ministry, Pastor Tom graduated from St. Vincent’s Seminary and College in Latrobe, PA. Upon graduation in 1976, he was hired by the U.S. Government with GAO. In 1987 he chose to leave this lucrative position for full-time ministry. His wife, Deborah has earned her M.Ed. in Counseling at George Mason University and is an LPC in the Commonwealth of Virginia. While working in the secular field for many years, Deborah also accompanied her husband in the ministry. In 2007, God permitted Deborah to leave her secular duties and join her husband full-time in the ministry enabling her to travel with Tom. Her focus is to strengthen the women in these countries by teaching them who they are as daughters of the King and their importance in the body of Christ. Tom and Deborah are working together to strengthen the Hispanic community locally and abroad, helping families and pastors come into God’s plan and structure through His Word, and endeavoring towards an ever-broadening mission view.
